Early Lunch Dismissal:  All PE classes

 

i-Ready mid-year assessment:   Remember-you will need your headphones for the testing days this week.  We have a modified schedule through tomorrow.  Testing takes place from 8:00-9:30.  A shortened black week schedule then follows for today and tomorrow.

 

Writing Club Meeting:  TODAY in D8 during lunch

 

Rainbow Club Meeting:  TODAY in A5 during lunch

 

2019 Young Writers Contest:  Annual contest open to all middle school students in Contra Costa County.  Contest includes the following categories:  short story, poetry, personal narrative, and humor.  Deadline is 9:00 PM on March 25.  Submit entries to:  Submittable.com.  Cash prizes for all categories.  See your teacher for a copy of the promotional flyer. 

 

Basketball:  Practices are as follows:

            JV Boys                       Tuesdays and Fridays                           2:30                

                                    Varsity Boys                Tuesdays and Fridays                           3:30    

                                    JV Girls                        Wednesdays                                         2:30-4:00

                                    Varsity Girls                 Thursdays                                            2:30-4:00

 

 Leadership

Kinder’s Fundraiser:  VVMS will be holding a Kinder’s fundraiser this Friday, January 25.  This will help raise funds to support school activities, such as Field Day.  Participating Kinder’s stores are located in Martinez, Concord, and Pleasant Hill.  15% of Kinder’s sales go to our school.  Please come and support our school by visiting Kinder’s for your dinner.  Make sure you bring a flyer!  Flyers will be handed out to 1st period classes on Wednesday, January 23 and can also be found on our VVMS website and in the office.

 

Crazy Day, Spirit Day!:  Our spirit day this month, will be Wednesday, January 30.  Although dress code still applies and must be followed, dress up in any crazy way imaginable!  Wear crazy socks, a crazy hair style, crazy outfit, mismatched items, or anything else that you think looks crazy!  Have fun and be CRAZY!  As usual, House color or VVMS spirit wear can be worn as well.  Earn House points towards a House party.  Ruby House is in the lead so far, followed by Topaz, but points between Houses is so close.  Be sure to secure your House a party by  participating in Crazy Day!

 

VVMS Jaguar Run:  The first VVMS Jaguar Run is here!  The race will be hold on Wednesday, January 30, from 2:30-3:00 PM for all 6th-8th grade students.  The 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place students will receive a medal!  Snacks and water will be included with participation and all participants will earn House Points.  To sign up, go to the table in front of the office on January 22nd, 23rd, and 24th
