Early Lunch Dismissal:  All 7th Graders


Popcorn Fundraiser:  Fliers for the fundraiser were distributed last week.  This fundraiser, which raises money for our end-of-the-year fun field day activities, will end January 31.  All forms and money are due to the office by that date.  The top seller in each grade will receive a $25 gift card.  2nd and 3rd top sellers will be able to choose from a free Mile Pass or a Homework Pass.  Delivery will be the week of February 10.



Girls’ Practice:  Wednesdays and Thursdays from 2:30-4:00

Boys’ Practice:  Tuesdays and Fridays from 2:30-4:00


Art/Essay/Video Contest-Growing Up Asian in America:  The topic is to share why you think it is important to stand up and be counted in your community.  The subject is connected to the upcoming 2020 U.S. Census.  Please access website for additional information:  “”.  Cash awards will be given:  one Grand Prize of $1,000, ten Best in Class winners of $500, and fourteen Honorable Mention awards for $250 each.  Deadline to submit your entry is Friday, March 6, 2020.  See your teacher for more details.


Year Book:  Attention all 8th graders –Yearbook is now collecting your baby photos for the “When We Were Young” pages in this year’s book.  You can send in the original photo and we can scan and return it to you as soon as possible (make sure you put your name on the back!)  If you bring an original copy, drop it off to Mr. Nunan in room S-3.  You can email a digital photo to  The deadline to submit baby photos has been extended to Friday, March 20, 2019.  We strongly encourage everyone to participate and hope to see many of your baby faces featured in this year’s yearbook.


Young Writers Contest:  This is a contest open to all students in Contra Costa County.  Write an original work and submit it to one of 4 categories: Poetry, Short Story, Personal Narrative, and Humor.  Students can enter a maximum of 3 entries (each to a different category).  Submission period opens January 15 and closes March 25.  There will be 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place winners in each category.  First prize will be $100, second place will be $50, and third place will be $25.  Winners will be notified by mail.  See your core teacher for more info.



Spirit Day:  In honor of Super Bowl Sunday, we will have a sports day Friday.  Dress in your 49er (yay) or Chiefs (boo) attire, or any other sports themed clothing.  Please remember to follow school dress code.  House points will be assigned.
