PTSA

Welcome to Valley View from your PTSA

The Valley View Middle School (VVMS) Parent Teacher Student Association (PTSA) welcomes you to our school.  Through your support, both financially and with your time, we raise funds, sponsor student events, provide educational items for the students, purchase equipment for the staff, pay for staff to keep the school computers up to date, and supply grants to the school. The PTSA works with parents, teachers, students and administrators to continue the school’s tradition of excellence.

The PTSA works to enrich your child's educational experience every school day.  To stay in-the-know this year, it is recommended that you read Parent Square emails.  The Parent Square  is sent directly to your email inbox, and is the best way to keep up-to-date with the important information you need to know.

PTSA meetings are held the 2nd Wednesday of every other month, currently virtually through Zoom. We welcome everyone to join and although volunteering isn’t required, your ideas, talents and energy help us in a vital way. Please note meeting times and location are subject to change.

Together we can make a difference in the lives of our students and staff at Valley View. The three years of middle school go quickly – don’t wait to jump in and help! If you have any question or concerns, please contact a PTSA board member.

10 Myths About Joining the PTSA

#1 Only moms and teachers need to join the PTSA.
A strong PTSA needs the support of parents, family members, teachers, school staff and community members. Anyone who cares about children belongs in the PTSA!

#2 Joining the PTSA means I have to volunteer.
The PTSA appreciates everyone's membership, whether or not they volunteer. You will not be sucked into a black hole of volunteering!

#3 I have to be a board member or chair a committee to join the PTSA.
You do not have to serve on the PTSA Board or chair a committee to join the PTSA. Your beautiful smile and wonderful support will suffice!

#4 PTSA membership never expires, I only have to join once.
Each new school year begins a new PTSA membership year. Your PTSA membership will be good for the entire school year!

#5 I don't have the time to join the PTSA.
If you are unable to volunteer your time, please consider becoming a member of the PTSA and giving financial support. You will have the satisfaction of knowing that your support helps fund events and activities for the children throughout the school year!

#6 I'll get roped into volunteering if I attend a PTSA meeting.
There will be opportunities to get involved, but there is no pressure to volunteer. Just pass along the sign-up sheet if you are unable to participate. No judgment here!

#7 The PTSA is only for stay-at-home parents with nothing else to do.
Your fellow PTSA members are family and community members who want to support kids and the school. Most members are juggling bills, household chores, kids, sports and homework, just like you!

#8 My child's life will be the same whether or not I join the PTSA.
Not only does membership put you in direct communication with other parents and teachers, it shows your child that you are interested and invested in their educational experience.

#9 The PTSA has all the help they need.
The PTSA always wants and always needs volunteers! If you choose to volunteer, you decide your time commitment!

#10 I have an idea but the PTSA isn't interested.
New ideas are always welcome! It's important to keep our PTSA fresh and exciting!
