Setting Book Report by Megan on Oct 13, 2010.
In the book Savvy one of the many settings is Mibs’ house. Her house is older and is right smack in the middle of Kansas and Nebraska. Her house is medium sized; it is two stories and has some old fashion furniture pieces. Her parents are simple so the house is not very detailed, but it seems like one of those houses that just shouts, come on in! Her grandma collected jars so the house is full of old musty jars, but that is what makes it special. It is pretty much around this time I would think, but I’m not sure because they never really mention anything that could tell you.
This setting reminds me of the first time I went to my aunt’s house in Idaho. She had a big house that is really warm and inviting. Her house is not really two stories, but it is close and it is huge. She fills it with a ton of comfortable furniture, I wouldn’t say that it is necessarily old fashioned, but it is still cool. It kind of reminds me of it because it is a big house, it has tons of furniture that is kind of similar to what I would think would be in MIbs’ house, and it is very inviting and just makes you want to go back again and again. It is always super fun to go and I get the impression that Mibs’ house is that way too. My aunt’s house gives me a great memories and I want to back whenever I leave.
Character Book Report by Kayla on Sept 8, 2010
In the book The Lightning Thief, Percy Jackson is a young, twelve year old boy who loves the water. He has light brown shaggy hair, green eyes that will definitely catch your eye, and not much to talk about when it comes to physical features; his body is normal but he is more on the skinnier side. His favorite thing is to be away from school and in the water. He loves swimming and going to the beach and anything water related. He most of all just likes being away from school.
I think Percy would be nice and a good friend according to how nice he is to his impatient friend Grover. I don’t seem to like water as much as he does, and I like school more than he does. Hey, I probably wouldn’t like school either if I went to special boarding schools where kids were always pushing your friends around and in your face all the time too. I am not too different from Percy, the way he is loyal and always sticking up for the school’s easy targets. His temper doesn’t seem too great but I would get used to that. If Percy Jackson and I were friends, our friendship would definitely have some ups and downs.
